Truck Rally
Friday Evening & Saturday Morning
June 25 & 26 ~ Part 1
During Friday evening setup at the Expo Center, the food committee packaged more than 1,000 cookies for Saturday evening’s meal.
A pretty, young helper
Saturday – the big day – begins with prayer and breakfast at a local restaurant for committee members and some of their early morning helpers.
The Lebanon Expo Center parking lot at 7:00 a.m. The large building (North Hall) on the left is where the benefit auction and gospel concert will be held later in the day. The long building on the right is the busiest this early in the morning as vendors are setting up in preparation to show and sell their wares.
Trucks begin arriving even though the “parade of trucks” is still four hours away.
A narrow view of North Hall
Shortly after parking, many drivers touch up their already shiny rigs.
The Rigidply “stage” and “banner hoist” arrive.
Randy hands registration information to Tony, who is pulling the stage.
Attaching the banner and preparing it to be hoisted above the entrance driveway.
My Shadow
I placed my lawn chair near the road in preparation for photographing trucks as they arrived.
I wasn’t there very long before I realized that I would soon need suntan lotion and something to drink. I called Jordan’s (grandson) cell phone and asked to talk to Jana (granddaughter), then explained where my needed items were located. Next I called Nelson Martin and asked if he would pick up the girls with his four-wheeler.
Kinsey (friend of Jana), Jana, and Nelson
Two cans of soda and suntan lotion should get me through the next three hours in the sun.
And they were off – going back to help our sons set up the benefit auction.
