Thursday
Our grandchildren have fun doing a variety of things while I spend needed time in our TFC home office.
They play Nintendo games in our grandchildren’s room – which they enjoy even though it is a very antiquated edition – as well as outdoor activities (see Wednesday’s entry).
Jordan enjoys the hunting games I have for our computer. He also enjoys real-life hunting. Grandpa was pleased to let him eliminate one of the members of the growing squirrel “pack” in our yard. (There are seven just outside my window as I make this entry.)
Wal-Mart
After I was finished in the office, and mail was delivered to the Post Office, we took Diana home, which means we are now down to three grandchildren. Jordan chose to stay an extra day, by using one of his birthday gift days. (After the age of thirteen, part of their birthday gift is the right to choose seven days per year – one or more at a time – at our house.)
Daily e-mails from Finland assure us that Josh and Jana’s parents are having a great time. Kristen enjoys day trips while Jere is participating in ICAR (an agriculture congress).
Part of the reason the children talked me into going to Wal-Mart was the need for some good game balls for our house.
I don’t have a picture of Jana’s choice of a Polly Pocket doll set – but something cute happened at the checkout. I didn’t know how much money she had, but figured I may have to pay some of it. When the clerk said her bill was $9.00, Jana searched through the crumpled dollar bills stuffed in her wallet and discovered only two. She looked up at me with her pretty eyes and a cute smile, and said, “I guess you will have to pay for for the rest of it, Grandma.”
Josh chose a new Lego set, and went into construction mode as soon as we got home. He was awake early this morning to continue his project. I didn’t have to supplement his payment as he knew exactly how much money he had and what his item of choice cost. (He has a part-time job mowing yard for a local doctor, which he did this afternoon.)
Baseball Under the Lights
The reason I was too tired to make yesterday’s entry last night.
Warming up before the 8 PM game.
Watching one of their team members at bat. Our team was “on the ball” last night, beating the opponents 10 – 4.
