LAMS Benefit Auction
Day 2
Our day began with breakfast under the big tent.
My first stop was the Landscape Auction
I purchased a few small containers of mint tea, seven red geraniums, two day lilies, and another plant whose name I forget.
We spent most of the day at the main auction, which altered between theme baskets, general merchandize, specialty items, artwork, and quilts.
Cathy, a LAMS secretary, and the main clerk at this auction, watches as her husband, John, sells an item.
Jere encourages me periodically by saying he enjoys my blog, so I made sure he gets to see a picture of himself holding up items for the auctioneer to sell. ![]()
Theme baskets are rarely a bargain at this auction. I usually choose a few that I will bid on if the price is right. I didn’t bid on any this year.
There were several pieces in the artwork category that I liked, but didn’t really know where to hang them – and at our age, we aren’t in need of anymore stuff.
The most difficult for me to resist buying were the P Buckley Moss prints. I love her work.
Then it was time to go back to the big tent for lunch. I am grateful that they have a very nice salad and fruit bar.
This was the cutest puppy.
Its sad eyes seemed to say, “This is so humiliating. Won’t someone please buy me.”
This mini-gator was one of the specialty items, and demonstrated by these children.

Toward the end of the day, it was announced that there was a fire truck on the lot, and a fireman was misting the children.

I was hoping to get pictures of the misting, but they were rolling up the hose by the time I got there. Then I noticed a lot of action in a low-lying area of the schoolyard.
It was a hot, humid, day, so maybe that is why some of the children had not gotten quite wet enough during the misting.
I would have liked to get closer, but did not want to risk getting splashed with muddy water.
Randy has to figure out what to do with his very muddy son.

How does sitting at an auction all day make one so weary. I am ready for bed.
