Saturday’s Work

We began the day by mulching flower beds.

Cerwin said later that we never got so much muching done is such a short period of time.  It is good to have a house full of grandchildren for days like this.

Jared and Ian wanted to “cut something” – so I gave them small scissors and a grey tub, and showed them how to cut tea.

Jessie happily watched from his “pen.”

Jana caught me pulling weeds in “Elijah’s Garden”

Elijah is a grandson who died at the age of five months – fifteen years ago.

I made five gallon of mint tea with our harvest today.

It felt good to take a break.

My feet quickly turned black – from the black mulch – after taking my shoes off during lunch.

It was a warm day, so I thought the boys and plants would enjoy water.

Getting a wheelbarrow ride.

After I was finished doing my part in the flowerbeds, I set Jesse free from his pen.

He needs close supervision when left on his own, or he will eat bugs and dirt.

Whoa, that is a tall tree!

6-14-08 (34).JPG

Josh stopped by to let me know he was leaving for work.  He helps a neighboring dairy farmer with evening chores – 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A Fuller House!

The “big” guys needed something to do, so invited Nate and Jordan to go to a steakhouse for supper.  It didn’t suit Jordan, but Nate was happy to go along.

By the time they came back, they decided to all spend the night here!

Jordan got here before the other three, and read one of grandpa’s hunting magazines while he waited.

Now, instead of having six grandchildren here – there are eight!  We moved the four big guys to air mattresses in the room in back of the garage, and Jana, Ian, and Jared to the guest room.

~~~
After getting that gang to bed, I was ready to prop up my feet.
