Our Day
Since we were going to spend most of the day out of the house, doing things with the girls, I decided to take advantage of the crockpot meal we got at Dish-it-Up the other night ~ so supper would be almost ready when we got home.
This is what the meal looked like before we packaged our part on Thursday evening.
When I read the directions on the bag this morning, I thought, “I can handle this!”
Defrost. Plug in slow cooker. Place meat in bottom of cooker. Cover with bag of veggies and sauce. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours.

Then the girls and I were on our way. (Cerwin left an hour earlier, to take his mother to the doctor, because her blood pressure was unusually high yesterday.)
This was our first stop. I like to check out this place once or twice a year to see if I can find something for our grandchildren’s room, or a small item for my “grandma purse” for church.
Jenna, Jana, Gloria, and Diana
Then we went next door to Wal-Mart (not the Super Wal-Mart with Amish buggy parking) where the girls looked for a way to spend their five dollars.
This is where Cerwin joined us. After a few tests, the doctor gave Mother a new prescription and wants to see her again in two weeks.
Diana’s restaurant of choice was Burger King (since it is her half-birthday, she makes that kind of choice).
Gloria wanted me to take a picture of her drinking chocolate milk.

Our next scheduled activity was bowling, but the two bowling alleys we use were filled with league bowling.
The girls were disappointed, and didn’t like the idea of going back to our house until 4 p.m. (when their twenty-four hours were up). They still wanted to do something special.
Then I had an idea!
I asked if they wanted to get a manicure. Their squeals of delight told me that option was going to remove all previous disappointment.
I warned them that the salon may be too busy to take on four young girls.
To their delight – and mine – the salon had only one patron. The owner was delighted to treat them to manicures.
This was the first time Gloria had her nails “done.”
It was also the first time Diana had a manicure. I wasn’t sure if she would like this process, because she is our hunter/tree-climber girl ~ but she loved it.
Jana loves the pampering.
Gloria getting a hand massage.
Clear nail polish only for my girls.
My girly-girls drying their pampered nails.
We still had an hour-and-a-half to use up before it was time to take them home. By now their need for a special treat was fulfilled, and they were ready to spend that time at our house.

When I walked into the house, I was met by the wonderful aroma of cooking food.
After Cerwin took the girls home, and the sun set, I prepared two biscuits…
…by removing them from the Dish-it-Up bag in the freezer, spreading with butter, and baking for twenty minutes.
Thanks to our children, we had a delicious, easy-to-prepare supper.
So ended another Saturday in our now very quiet house.
