An-Ordinary-Kind-of-Day

There were no hard-pressing deadlines, but  I still had plenty of work to do in the office:  set up a banquet flyer, make tickets for the same, print postcards announcing next week’s prayer breakfast, make address additions and corrections in my database, finalize securing music groups for the 2009 Truck Rally (Dixie Melody Boys and The Gabriels), answer several phone questions concerning the ministry of TFC, and go to the post office.

So what do I enter in my blog tonight?

On days like this I do one of two things:  search through my computer storage of photos and quotes that I have not yet posted, or look through my trusty Longaberger basket where I store notes and things I want to read for inspiration.

This time I went to the basket.

One of the notes near the top made me smile.  It was from Dr. David Dorsey’s session at TFC’s recent Winter Retreat.  He spoke about the joys and challenges of developing inner peace by trusting in God.

The illustration that made me smile was concerning what he said about the way each of us is “wired” to be an optimist or pessimist.

How do you see a glass of water – half full or half empty?

David said he is wired to be a pessimist – and not only does he see the glass as half empty, he is sure it is laced with cyanide.

After the session, I told him I am just the opposite.  I know my glass will soon be full, and can’t imagine that anyone would do something bad to my water.

Either way, whether you are like David or like me – or somewhere in between – finding a balanced, inner peace with God can only be found by looking to Him for guidance and wisdom.

Either way I looked at the sunset today – front or back door – it was beautiful.

Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
