Our Sunset Maple & a Medical Update
~~~ Tuesday, October 31 ~~~ It was 2008 – 15 years ago when our grandson Jordan helped us choose a “good” Sunset Maple Tree and plant it in our yard. He was about 17 at the time and had previously spent time working at Root’s Nursery – the reason we went to him for assistance. […]
Birthday Brunch
~~~ Monday, October 30 ~~~ This was with my sister, Nancy, and my two local sisters-in-law Dot and Brenda – in honor of Brenda’s October birthday. It is actually across the avenue from Blackworth where we were for brunch the day before. 🙂 The other three got a breakfast bowl which included sweet potatoes while […]
Brunch with Jeff
We never had brunch at Blackworth, but it was incredibly delicious. This was Jeff’s steak and eggs. This was to celebrate his 59th birthday. It seems impossible to us that our oldest child is that age. It was great to be updated on his life. We treasure these birthday meals.
Enjoyed a Bluegrass Gospel Concert
This will give you an idea of the beautiful fall evening as we drove to New Covenant Church, near New Holland. The opening songs were by a local group – Tru Vintage. We never tire of hearing them. This is only the second time we heard High Fidelity, but they were the draw that made […]
Spraying Our Yard
~~~ Thursday Evening, October 26 ~~~ It was a beautiful evening and time to spray our yard. Jere called a few minutes earlier to ask if it was okay if he came over in a few minutes. He lives close enough to drive the rig right to our house. 🙂 I look at this picture […]
A Beautiful Late October Morning
If you are from our area, you know I did not take this picture today. It is rainy, cloudy and cold today. I took these pictures on Thursday, October 26 at 8:35 am. Breath-taking
A Few Pretty Things in Our Early Fall Yard
Harvesting Corn
~~~ Wednesday Evening, October 25 ~~~ I never tire of watching this process – just below our yard. With this process, the corn goes to the bin and the stalks are chopped up and spit out on the ground. I expect the chopped corn stalks will eventually go for bedding for the cattle. Transferring the […]
Yucca Seed Pods
We had a lot of yucca flowers in early summer, now we have abundant seedpods. Each one is filled with little black seeds. It’s amazing that beautiful flowers turn into a kind of ugly seed pod, but next spring we will repeat the processes and be blessed with more pretty white/green flowers. I am fascinated […]
Lunch with Sauder Cousins
~~~ Wednesday, October 26 ~~~ We tried a new restaurant this time and I think everyone was pleased. We had a smaller group than usual. There were a few health issues, plus it was a beautiful day, making it easy for some to work outside. We particularly liked this room. The high ceiling kept the […]
Happy Birthday to Our Favorite Jeff
A Fall Drive
We had some things to do in Lancaster, so I grabbed my camera, hoping to see signs of Fall. Taking photos while Cerwin drives is a bit of a challenge. He doesn’t mind slowing down or even stopping when we are on a country road, but it’s a different story when in busy traffic. I […]
Lunch with Retired TFC Friends
Sam Rittenhouse does and excellent job of staying in touch with TFC staff (active and retired) especially on their birthdays and wedding anniversaries. When talking to Glenn and Cheryl Hilt (retired chaplain) he learned that they would enjoy having lunch with those of us who get together every three months. Since they live in the […]
