Mountain Life with Jere & Kristen’s Family – Part 2

Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26

Breakfast pizza on Saturday morning

Jere was our “spider-web-destroyer” as the four of us began a morning walk.

Beauty along the way

Can you tell that it was a beautiful morning?

We couldn’t identify this foot print? Our first thought was bobcat, but we really don’t know. It was large enough to be a big dog or coyote. It was a bit distorted because of the stone on the right so we couldn’t tell if there were three or four toes.

We heard these guys long before they arrived behind us. It looked like they were having fun.

The logs we passed when we arrived several days earlier – where the Amish man was logging.

We were surprised to meet someone we knew – or at least knew his family. Marlin grew up in the same church as Cerwin. He and his wife live here all year long. He told us about mountain life and that they frequently see bear on their deck. He told us to put peanut butter out at the corn feeder that evening, but we only saw rabbits and a few deer that night and the next morning.

Back at our mountain home.

The kids were playing Yahtzee.

The guys wanted to do some more target shooting. Jere does a good job of teaching gun safety to the boys and how to improve their shooting for deer hunting.

One of the targets was tomatoes that were no longer good for eating. They were put on top of soda bottles.

All tomatoes on the ground. 🙂

I think this card game was Rummy – with runs and suits.

There was a late afternoon rainfall. Rain sounds peaceful when in the mountains.

I almost never join Jere and Kristen’s family in this game because they are so fast. 🙂

By Sunday morning we cleaned the house, packed our things and headed home. I love modern technology, because we could listen to our own church’s worship service as we traveled.

Thank you, Jere and Kristen, for inviting us. We had a great time.
