Does your husband/wife do something that irritates you?
Yesterday I read a suggestion for helping change your attitude about this. I forget where I read it, but the lady said her husband rarely shuts cupboard doors. It got my attention, because Cerwin is like that – often leaving cupboard doors and drawers partly open. I have learned to not let it bother me – in most cases – but sometimes I think, “Why do I have to close doors and drawers for him.”
She suggested that instead of being irritated with an open cupboard, “Change your thinking to, “Oh, it looks like he was here before me.” I smiled and thought, “I like that.”
I got to practice that attitude first thing this morning. When I came into the kitchen for a cup of coffee, the door was already wide open. I smiled and thought, “Oh, it looks like he was here before me. 🙂
That was fun! I think I like this attitude.
It also reminds me that I don’t have to live in this house alone. We are together after 55 1/2 years.
It is a blessing to still be together. Tom and I had been married 3 days short of 57 years when he died. Now if doors are left open, it’s because I left them open.
I know. The older I get the less open doors and shoes in the kitchen irritate me. 🙂
A positive attitude is always happier than criticism! I like this mantra!
This works for anything for which we have a bad attitude.
