Sunday, April 12
We began our day like the one before – enjoying breakfast in our motel with Sam, Janet, and Dennis. Then we went to Sam and Janet’s home church – Lakehead Baptist in Thunder Bay.
Later, we and 25 others met at Pass Lake Chapel for the 3:00 PM dedication.
Dennis (Director of Canadian Ministries) led the service.
He asked Janet to read a Bible passage.
Chaplain Sam shared a few words before we went outside for the prayer of dedication.
Several led in praying for the ministry of this chapel and those who serve here.
I could not see Janet from my vantage point on the steps – but she is right next to Sam and has her arm around his back.

Following the dedication service, most of us enjoyed supper in the truck stop.
The evening sun gave me a perfect shot of the back of the chapel.
It can easily be seen by drivers going by on Highway 11/17 – just east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Sam and Janet walking toward the chapel after supper.
Watching a driver pull his loaded cattle truck in next to the chapel.
It was here that we said our goodbyes to Sam and Janet. We have learned to love and appreciate them in a deeper way – especially during the last year as we corresponded about the chapel construction, delivered the chapel, and now having spent another few days with them.
It was difficult leaving them, knowing we may not see them for a long time. We are thankful for Facebook, and almost daily “likes” and correspondence.
On the way to Thunder Bay – from Pass Lake – Dennis took us to the memorial for Terry Fox.
We could see the still frozen Lake Superior from the hilltop where his memorial is located.

It was a great day to stash away in our memory bank.
That looks like a very nice dedication ceremony — so many people there!
Yes, it was a nice ceremony, and Chaplain Sam was very encouraged by the response of people who came.
