Cleaning up the pavilion area is a family project on Memorial Day.
My brother Dale was the first one on duty. I had asked him if he would come early to help me get some weed eating done before the others arrived.
Since we had been in Maine for the week prior to this, I didn’t have time to get a head start on the weed eating this year.
It makes it easier (and safer) for the others to rake around the tables and fire pit area if we aren’t weed eating near them.
It was fun having Hezekiah here to help us.
The trash pile was high with branches and leaves.
This is just a small idea of the task ahead of us for the morning.
By 9:30 most of the crew had arrived and the area was quickly changing.
Jeff keeps the fire burning by strategically placing the leaves and branches on the pile.
Nancy got bathroom duty this year.
Hannah enjoyed helping to wash the tables.
Notice the smile on Chris’ face. When Jenna saw me coming, she took her mom’s rake because she wanted to be working when I took the photo. Jenna had just arrived and didn’t have a rake yet. 🙂
Look at the difference a few hours and people made.
I didn’t think about taking a photo at lunch time – our first official doggie roast and picnic at the pavilion.
Thanks everyone ~ especially Hannah and Heze who were just here for the day, before heading back to Maine on Tuesday morning.
Wow — what a difference a day makes — it’s beautiful, and ready for parties all summer!
We are having a big party this Sunday – my step-mother’s 90th birthday.
