God’s family is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Part 1 of 3

Be Missions

Calvary Baptist Church, Bel Air, Maryland

Sunday, April 21

1 (2)

My favorite view of the Susquehanna River from Route 441 – a few minutes after pulling TFC’s International Chapel #1 out of the lot.

1 (3)

I felt like I had the best seat in the house – the passenger seat – on this beautiful spring morning.

1 (4)

Oh, I do love road trips – especially in a tractor trailer.

1 (5)

Cerwin is always a bit concerned when taking a chapel to a city church because city streets and church parking lots are not designed for sixty-two foot rigs.

Mike Hayden, TFC’s Director of Business and Finance, is a member of this church and gave Cerwin directions for entering the city of Bel Air. However, there was a foot race going on, so we had to detour and go the direction that Mike said we should not go.  We were glad for our GPS and eventually found the correct entry to the church parking lot.

1 (6)

The church’s beautiful, old, cherry trees were in full bloom.

 1 (13)

Mike and his wife, Sue, are trained in crisis Intervention and occasionally serve on this trailer in an area where a disaster (hurricane, tornado, flood, etc.) has happened.

1 (9)

Two ladies from this church make quilts and pillow cases for truckers.

1 (10)

They enjoy sharing Christ’s love in this way.

1 (11)

I met one of the ladies after church, and asked if they always use the same verse. She said they do not. I wish I had thought of taking a picture of her with this quilt. They brought it on this day to give to Chaplain Jay Schock for the Elkton #1 chapel.

1 (14)

Inside there were lots of tables where other missionaries had set up their information.

Be Missions, the theme of this missions conference, suggests that missions is who you are every single day.

1 (15)

This display captured my attention because our daughter Diane and her husband, Mark, moved to Maine to assist with a mission church.

This information states that 97% of the people who live in Maine do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. That is about the same percentage as Beijing, China.

Tomorrow night I will show you some pictures from the worship service and noon meal.

Maybe it’s because springtime seemed like a long time coming that I am enjoying the flowers and warm weather of springtime this year.

York-Adams Chapter

TFC Dinner Concert

Saturday, April 20

1

Beautiful begonias lined the center of each table.

3 (1)

When Cerwin saw that Marie (center) brought an apple pie for the silent auction, he made an early bid.

Grace (left) is recording another auction item.

Cerwin did not have the highest bid – Bunny did – but Bunny gave us the pie. How nice was that!

3 (2)

I successfully bid on the salsa and tomatoes at the other end of this table. I did not make a successful bid on the flower and stand in the foreground.

3 (3)

More silent auction items.

3 (4)

By 6:00 p.m. everyone had arrived and was ready for dinner.

Jim – chapter contact person – thanked the fire company personnel for the delicious meal and introduced The Gabriels.

4 (1)

They delighted us with their style of southern gospel music.

4 (2)

5 (1)

David – pastor and trucker – shared some serious and amusing stories of his life on the road.

5 (2)

Bunny gave a ministry update.

5 (3)

Cerwin told about the status of the current chapel construction – for Calgary, Alberta – and shared some future construction plans.

6 (1)

The Gabriels second set of songs.

Chaplain Jim closed with prayer.

My soul was blessed by the evening.

Hold firmly to the faith we profess.

For we have a great High Priest who has gone into the very presence of God—Jesus, the Son of God.

Supper With Friends

1 (1)

After leaving Hershey Christian School, we took the chapel to its home at the TFC Office and had about ten minutes to brush our teeth and “freshen up” a bit before meeting Chaplain Tom and Janis Kemp at the Kountry Kitchen.

1 (2)

Tom and Janis are visiting our area – from Washington where he is lead chaplain at the North Bend Chapel near Seattle.

It is always fun to enjoy a meal with friends.

 2 (1)

I think these doves feel the same way – that it is a good thing to enjoy a meal with a friend.

2 (2)

3

Kind words are like honey—sweet to the taste and good for your health.

Taking a TFC Chapel To

Hershey Christian School

Friday, April 19

Part 2

2 (1)

I like this view of the chapel – from the top of the steps.

2 (2)

After lunch I located Karen’s room before going back to the chapel.

2 (3)

2 (4)

2 (5)

Then it was time to go back to her job as the principal.

2 (6)

We went back to the chapel to prepare for the arrival of 2nd grade.

Our last class – kindergarten – arriving.

2 (17)

This is how we closed each presentation – after reminding the children of a few things they can do for truck drivers.

~~~
A highlight of the day was when we joined the students for the closing chapel service where the “missionaries” were asked to stand in front of the stage, and several students were asked to come forward and choose a missionary. Then one by one they prayed for us.
