This was the highest selling quilt.

It sold one time for $2,000.00. The winning bidder said, “Sell it again.” It brought $1,700.00 the second time, making a total of $3,700.00.

This beautiful rig was custom built by our friend Irwin Groff

“Grow Money” for this year was gotten at the 2011 auction. If I remember correctly, those who want to participate are given $20.00 and challenged to create something that will sell for more than that.

Irwin has a debilitating disease that is limiting his ability to design these beautiful rigs. However, he continues building them.

My note says this sold for $1,245.00. He grew his money many times!

This beautiful rocking horse is made from one piece of wood, and was purchased and shipped here from the Philippines.

While the auctioneer took bids, my step-brother Meredith demonstrated its rocking ability.

Meredith announces the important details of each item before the auctioneer takes bids. It sold for something between $1,400 and $1,500.

Live in harmony with each other.

Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people.

This grape pie sold so many times (when a buyer says sell it again) that I think it sold for more than $600.00.

Paul W. Brubaker sells a painting every year.

This was a painting of the 1792 Johannes Mueller House located in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

I love the yo yo critters that Lois Minnich makes. This one brought $260.00.  

More pictures tomorrow night.

Christine and Lois were taking care of the Country Treasures Store when I arrived on Friday afternoon.

Country Treasures items are not auctioned, but are priced and available for purchase.

There was a puppet show outside under a tent.

Every time I went by the clowns they were busy making balloon critters and hats.

Clowns always look like they are having fun.

Brethren Disaster Relief Auction – Part 1

September 21 & 22

It was fun being asked to photograph the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction again this year.

Our friend John Minnich is a professional photographer, and has been doing their photography for many years. The other year when he could not attend, I was asked to take his place, and since then he continues with his professional skills and I do the candid photography – which gives me the freedom to just have fun with my camera.

This butterfly quilt caught my attention on my first walk through the quilt section.

There were many beautiful quilts, but this one stayed in my number one position throughout the weekend.

It was named Woodland Butterfly and was 98″ x 108″.

I was secretly hoping that it would bring the highest price.

According to my notes it brought $1,750.00 – putting it in second place at the quilt auction.
