Sweetheart Banquet at Camp Hebron

This banquet and program is done by Camp Hebron, and since it is the day before the TFC Winter Retreat, many of our staff take advantage of it.  Twenty-nine of those in attendance were from TFC.

Donna Godshall’s Southern Gospel concerts are a favorite of our staff, so that was as added attraction this year.

Guess What – I Have Internet Service Here!

Here in Camp Hebron, Halifax, PA – It’s dial-up, but it works!

~~~
I must show you a picture that tells you something about my creative husband!
Yesterday the snowplow knocked our mailbox over, and since the ground is frozen, and we are away for a few days, Cerwin rigged this up.  He needed something for weight and thought the propane tank was a good choice!
I thought it was so clever.
~~~

I’ll tell you about the retreat as we go along.  Tonight is the Sweetheart Banquet.

My Sweetheart Had a Cold Job Today

Snow and Sleet (1).JPG

We were surprised that the icy mix got so deep!

Snow and Sleet (5).JPG

Yesterday he shoveled a few inches of snow from the driveway, then after a night of snow and sleet there was another five to six inches to remove.

 Snow and Sleet (4).JPG

After he finished with our driveway, he went to the TFC office and shop and cleared the snow from that driveway and parking lot (with a skid loader).

A Snowy Day – Yes!

DSC_0003.JPG

It started snowing about 6 AM.

DSC_0002.JPG

By 9 AM we had an inch.

DSC_0011.JPG

Cerwin left the TFC Shop shortly after noon to avoid the afternoon snow and sleet.

DSC_0015.JPG

Tonight we are having a combination of rain, sleet, and snow.

DSC_0018.JPG

The wintery mix caused many fender-benders and change of plans.

DSC_0001.JPG

We only got about 3 inches of snow.  The rest was sleet, which is making an icy mess on the roads.

I expect even more activities, schools, and businesses will be delayed or closed on Wednesday.

~~~
I was supposed to share a devotional for Ladies’ Tea at our church this morning, but that will wait until next Tuesday.  Instead I did the layout and design for two newsletters and one brochure, and finalized room assignments for TFC’s Winter Retreat this weekend.
Blessed Are The Pure in Heart
For They Shall See God.
Matthew 5:8 KJV
  cv (12)
The 6th Beatitude
Notes from our church’s Winter Bible study on the Beatitudes
Sermon by Pastor Carl Groff
  ~~~

 Humility must be in place if one is to possess a pure heart.

~~~
The Apostle Paul was an example of purity.
1 Thessalonians 2:3 & 4
1. No deceit
2. No impure thoughts
3. No manipulation
~~~

Pure in heart:  A consuming desire to serve Christ.

~~~
Rewards of Pure in Heart
1. Gain God’s favor
2. Gain God’s power
3. Gain God’s Perspective
~~~

God never intended for us to spend our entire life struggling with secret sins.

He intended for us to have victory!

~~~
The pure in heart are free to focus on others – rather than their own struggle with impurity.
cv (11)
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
~~~

Not only will the pure in heart see God in eternity

they will see (understand)

God’s will and perspective for their life here and now.

Granddaughters Continued

When they woke up this morning, they decided to restyle Cerwn’s hair.

Later in the morning Cerwn and our son Jere went shopping for some items for Jere and Kristen’s new barn.

The girls and I did a bit of shopping, went to a local restaurant for lunch, and bowled two games before I took Jenna, Diana, and Gloria home.

This evening we kept Josh, Jana, Ian, and Jared while their parents went to a Sweetheart Supper with their Sunday School Class.

I wasn’t going to take any pictures tonight, but couldn’t resist capturing Jared jumping into Josh’s arms!

Jared never doubted that Josh would catch him.  That is trust!

Thus closed a busy and fun week.

Friday Evening

A Beautiful Sunset

Girls at Grandmas (1).JPG

A sleepover evening with our Pennsylvania granddaughters (we also have four Maine granddaughters) to celebrate Diana’s half-birthday.  She is second from left.

She choose Burger King for our supper stop.

At great-grandma’s door.  Cerwin’s mother lives in an apartment at a senior community.

While I reconciled her bank statement and checkbook for January, the girls played a marble game.

Before going home, Jenna helped Mother serve ice cream.

Notice the waste can next to Cerwin.  He goes through any mail she has questions about – mostly junk mail – but she wants to make sure it is nothing important, so he looks at it before throwing it away – or keeping it.

Early Morning Visitor

DSC_0001.JPG

I was getting my second cup of coffee when I heard  a big rig slowing down at our house.

DSC_0007.JPG

What fun to have a few minutes with our oldest son.  He didn’t even take time to sit down – but a few minutes and a hug gets any parent’s day off to a great start!

It’s Nice To Have A Birthday Once A Year!

DSC_0014.JPG

Flowers, Cards, Phone Calls, Emails, and Blog notes!

Log Cabin.JPG

Tonight Cerwin took me to The Log Cabin for supper.

Log Cabin (1).JPG

We could be quite liberal in our choice of entrees, as we were using a $100.00 gift card from Ferrellgas – when Cerwin retired a few weeks. ago.

I chose Shrimp Scampi and Cerwin chose Filet Mignon.  Both were delicious.

Log Cabin (2).JPG

We both chose the Red Raspberry Tart for dessert.

Log Cabin (3).JPG

Tomorrow it will be back to normal!
