What Are You Filled With?

The other day I was searching for a verse in the Bible when I came across some “filled with” verses that challenged me – thus this entry.

Our Number Four Grandchild is Sixteen Today

DSC_0027.JPG

DSC_0039.JPG

Jordan’s parents (our oldest son and daughter-in-law) planned the neatest party for him.

They rented this pavilion at at local sports place (batting cages, driving range, go-carts, and miniature golf) and invited nine of his friends.  Only one was unable to attend.

The Tablecloths

My job was to store the food in our refrigerator and freezer and be at the pavilion early – with  food – so the three early arrivals knew where to be when Jordan and his parents arrived.

Jordan thought he was going to the go-cart track, but noticed the party signs when his friends said, “Hey, Jordan.”

DSC_0030.JPG

Kirson, Brandon, Jordan, and Jeff (our son) carried in the food and distributed it between ice chests.

Jordan was so pleased that his parents planned this kind of party for him.

Chris (daughter-in-law) Jordan, Kirson, Brandon, and Nehemiah head toward the main desk to choose their first game while they wait for the other five to arrive.  Two were arriving as I took this picture.

DSC_0050.JPG

This is what they were doing when I left – as my job was done – to go home and help Cerwin with three of Jeff and Chris’ other children (Jenna was with a neighbor).

It sounds like they had a great evening.

Happy Birthday Jordan

We Love You!

Monarch in the Making?

DSC_0191.JPG

When I was taking butterfly pictures on Sunday evening, my sister-in-law, Dot, said, “That reminds me – I want to check the milkweed for Monarch eggs.”

She said this is a Monarch egg.  I will keep an eye on it during my walks.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with these photos, but when homefire asked if I had seen any Monarchs, I decided to answer with these two pictures.

Butterflies in Our Butterfly Bush

Butterflies.JPG

I love this time of year when our Butterfly Bush is full of butterflies – where most of these pictures were taken during the past week.  A few were taken at the bush on my brothers’ farm – next door.

I couldn’t identify this one ~ does anyone know?

Is it a moth or butterfly?

Neither did I find an identity for this one.

This one appears to be an Anise Swallowtail.

 Saturday Evening

Sight & Sound

And Nine Grandchildren

For those who have never heard about this Christian Theatre, go to ~

Pizza Hut was the restaurant of choice by the two birthday grandchildren – Diana and Jordan – in the foreground.  When did these guys grow up?  There was some “serious” discussion about girlfriends and boyfriends.  It was like taking a youth group out for supper.  What neat, fun kids.

DSC_0006.JPG

 I tried to take a photo of the entrance sign while driving (we took two vehicles).  I should have given the camera to someone else – but you get the idea.

Photos cannot be taken during the presentation, so I captured a few while people were coming in and announcements were being made.

Two angels guarded the Garden of Eden during intermission ~ which was just after Adam and Eve had to leave the garden.

Glenn Eshelman and his staff did an incredible job of presenting “The Beginning” ~ the story of creation.

~~~
My Favorite Parts
When the curtains open to the wrap-around-stage and the Garden of Eden is presented.
When Adam saw his reflection in a pond and thought it was God.  God said, “No, that is you.  You look like Me because I made you in My image.”
The finale ~ The new earth restored and the Wedding Supper of the Lamb.
I don’t want to give away too many details because of those who read this, and haven’t seen it yet.
~~~

Our last stop was McDonald’s for ice cream sundaes.

A wonderful Saturday evening!

Sunset ~ Corn ~ Lightening Bugs

Corn & Sunset.JPG

Last week – before going to Canada – this beautiful sunset captured my attention.

Corn & Sunset (1).JPG

While trying to get a good picture, I noticed the tall corn in the next field and decided to try some more creative shots.

Corn & Sunset (2).JPG

The corn is lush and tall ~ some stalks are 8-9 feet tall

Corn & Sunset (3).JPG

As I walked closer, I noticed that most of the silk was young and beautiful.

Our Number Three Grandchild Turned Seventeen Yesterday

Since he and his family (his mom is our oldest daughter) live in Maine, I don’t have any birthday pictures.

Some of my favorite pictures of him are of the two of us going for a four-wheeler ride – Spring 2006.

The reason for the ride was to go to a neighboring farm to feed horses.

After feeding horses, he took me on a scenic ride through some neighboring woods.

Happy Birthday, Josiah

Our Number Ten Grandchild is Nine!

We attended her birthday party last night – but I was too tired to post.  Too much partying, I guess!

DSC_0053.JPG

Grandma Lois gave her a small book of games and puzzles.  Diana is reading a note that says Grandma will take her to a local restaurant after every page is finished.  That is big sister, Jenna, on the left.

DSC_0050.JPG

Diana, Cerwin, and Gloria

Gloria, Diana’s youngest sister, made a very creative card.

DSC_0065.JPG

Opening our present.  We give money and try to camoflauge it in a bag – even though they always know what they are getting.   With sixteen grandchildren – it is easier that way!

DSC_0071.JPG

Can you tell that she is pleased with her first pair of shoes with high heels – from her parents.

DSC_0087.JPG

I told her that I am going to title this picture – “Which One is the Monkey.”

The monkey was from Build-a-Bear – from her parents.

DSC_0099.JPG

Her family nickname is “Squirty.”

Every birthday must come to an end.

Happy Birthday, Diana!
