Before & After the Snow
February 13-14
Birds always seem to be busy before and after a snowstorm.
We’ve has so many pretty, little snowstorms this winter.
By little I mean less than one inch of snow.
They seem to happen at least once or twice a week.
Everything looks pretty when it is snow covered.
It also looks pretty when it is melting.
How blessed the man you train, God,
the woman you instruct in your Word,
Providing a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil.
Psalm 94:12-13 (The Message)
Lunch at My Sister’s House
Wednesday, February 13
I had been looking forward to this day ever since my sister, Nancy, invited me to lunch. It was a nice day, so I decided to walk through the woodlot that separates our houses.
I knew that she was inviting several women from the neighborhood – but I did not know who to expect.
I love when she makes an ice mold for the candle in the middle of the table.
There was also a basket of chocolates.
The ladies across the table from me: Erma, Brenda, Shirley, Karen, and our hostess – my sister, Nancy.
The other five ladies: Mary Ann, Theda, Dorinda, Becky, and Sadie.
Someone thought there should be a photo that included me.
The apple cranberry salad was incredibly delicious.The dressing was fat-free raspberry pecan.
I didn’t ask Nancy if the soup had a name, but the main ingredients were chicken and rice.
Homemade cream puffs filled with chicken salad.
Small ham and cheese muffins.
The dessert was made with angel food cake, raspberries, blueberries, lemon yogurt, and Cool Whip.
I thought you might like to see what it looked like inside after we each took our portion.
Our table favor included a York peppermint patty
I think most of us were surprised to find a heart-shaped peppermint patty.
~~~
It was wonderful afternoon.
better to have self-control than to conquer a city.
Calgary Chapel Construction
Update
February 7 to 15
These are pictures that Cerwin took during the last week and a half of chapel construction.
Insulation is complete and paneling has been installed in the living quarters. (Most of the chapel area is now paneled, but he didn’t get a photo of that.)
Painting ceiling paneling
Pastor John and Chuck.
Chaplain Jim Smalley (background) stopped in to see the construction progress.
Lunch break: Jim, John, Chuck, Ray, Dennis, Glenn, and Pastor John (back to camera).
Cerwin was very pleased with the amount of work that was completed on this day.
Cerwin and Glenn (right) are very thankful for the skilled help of the men from Living Waters Chapel, Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light
so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—
his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
Rainbow Dinner Theatre
“Have I Got a Girl For You”
February 10
Cerwin asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. I said, “Take our children out for a meal.”
Then, through someone’s Facebook post, I was reminded of how much I enjoy a good dinner theater, and checked the local ones. I thought the play at Rainbow Dinner Theatre looked like something we might enjoy – plus there was an afternoon matinee.
Our Pennsylvania children: Roy, Deb, Kristen, Jere, Chris, and Jeff – plus Cerwin and me.
We enjoyed a delicious buffet while the grandchildren had pizza at our place.
The stage.
The play was a delightful, funny story about a married sister and her husband (who thought they were perfect) setting up a rather chubby sister with a guy who was a bit frumpy.
It was good to spend an afternoon laughing, and reminded me of Proverbs 17:22. “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
We understand that Daniel and Rachel are an actual husband and wife. They were the “perfect” couple who set up the other two with a blind date.
Dianne was in every scene and did an amazing job with her “Edith-Bunker-style” character. Scott was superb at playing an awkward, romantic bachelor.
It was one of the best plays I have seen in a long time – a wonderful birthday present from Cerwin.
Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.
