Our Anniversary Dinner

Tuesday, September 14

Lily’s On Main

The evening of our forty-seventh wedding anniversary.

Cranberry bread

My salad with blue cheese dressing.

Cerwin prefers thousand island – or something similar.

1v (7).JPG

While we enjoyed salads and waited for our entree’s, we watched the activity on the sidewalk below us. Lily’s is on the second floor.

I love brick sidewalks.

Cerwin’s entree: Beef Filet Tips with sauteed mushrooms and shallots, and mashed potatoes, served in Marsala wine sauce.

1v (15).JPG

My entree: Raspberry Chicken (baked breast coated with almond bread crumbs), melted brie, mashed potatoes, Chambord sauce

1v (16).JPG

We always share this dessert, a delicious cake with layers of grapefruit, orange, lemon, and lime.

If I remember correctly, you cannot get this in fall and winter.

  1v (18).JPG

I love coming to this restaurant just before sunset, because the minute the sun has gone below the buildings, a staff person opens all the curtains.

I took this picture after a few other patrons left, so they didn’t think I was taking their photo.

There is a beautiful waterfall below the entrance steps.

Our table was inside the two windows on the left.

1v (36).JPG

I haven’t done this for awhile – played with the camera when it’s too dark to take pictures without a flash.

1v (37).JPG

The display on the left is a car going past us in the opposite direction.

1v (38).JPG

Do any of the locals know where this is? This is another restaurant on 322 (not Lily’s).

1v (39).JPG

The end of a great day.

This entry is for those who voted for my friend Eunice B when she entered a contest to win a Weber Grill.

She won, and it arrived a few days ago. To see it go to here.

Truckers’ Jamboree

Saturday, September 11

Calvary Monument Bible Church, Paradise, PA

a (1).JPG

We were honored to take TFC’s International Chapel to this celebration of truckers and the ministry of Transport For Christ.

a (2).JPG

There were sixteen shiny trucks.

a (3).JPG

A young driver tells TFC’s Director of Chaplain Wellness, Bunny O’Hare, how his recent commitment to follow Jesus has changed his life.

a (4).JPG

Donuts and coffee were available by 9:00 a.m.

a (5).JPG

a (6).JPGa (7).JPG

It’s obvious that these three were enjoying them.

a (8).JPG

A barrel train was just one of the activities for the children. The barrels were full most of the day.

a (9).JPG

Amanda’s face and arm painting was lots of fun for the children.

Jamboree Hats for Sale

a (15).JPG

Drivers did their best to have their rig looking good for the judge.

a (16).JPG

a (17).JPG a (18).JPG

This one is a favorite.

a (19).JPG

Dick Summers waits in the background while Randy Sauder judges his truck. Randy’s son Josiah went along with his dad to each truck, so will probably soon be qualified to be a judge as well.

a (20).JPG

I liked that this driver had decorated his truck with two small American flags.

a (21).JPG

a (23).JPG

Everything was free today – including lunch – thanks to Calvary Monument Bible Church.

a (24).JPG

a (26).JPG

The band “Forgiven” presented a great, lively gospel concert.

a (28).JPG a (29).JPG

a (30).JPG

Drivers and their families watched and listened from their trucks.

a (31).JPG

Bunny shared a challenging message on forgiveness.

~~~
Then it was time for the judges awards.
~~~

a (32).JPG

It was obvious that this rig was not going to get first place – but it did receive sixteenth place – “The truck with the most potential.”

a (33).JPG

a (34).JPG     a (35).JPG

a (36).JPG

a (37).JPG

Earlier in the day I caught Nancy Sensenig polishing one of her trucks with the sleeve of her sweater.

a (39).JPG

It must have paid off, because it won first place – which was a hot air balloon ride for two people.

They give out great prizes, so you may want to bring your truck next year. Second prize was two tickets to sight & sound.

Every driver received something – from meals in a local restaurant to travel coffee cups. I helped Cerwin give out the prizes, so didn’t get any photos of that event.

a (27).JPG

We enjoyed meeting the drivers and their families, and showing the chapel to many visitors.

a (40).JPG

By 4:00 p.m. we began tearing down and prepared to take the chapel back to TFC’s shop.

a (41).JPG

If you are looking for an old truck to restore, this one is waiting for a professional touch – just a short distance from the church.

a (42).JPG

The evening sky was beautiful when we pulled into the International Office.
