Food

Friday & Saturday, September 24 & 25

Brethren Disaster Relief Auction

10-10-10 (1)

10-10-10 (2)

The Outside Eatery was one of several places where food could be purchased.

10-10-10 (3)

10-10-10 (4)

10-10-10 (5)

10-10-10 (8)

When our friend Bob Graybill saw me, he immediately mugged for the camera.

10-10-10 (9)

10-10-10 (10)

10-10-10 (11)

Friday was a warm afternoon and evening, creating a nice atmosphere for sitting outside to eat lunch or supper.

10-10-10 (12)

She brought her own lunch and enjoyed it in the air conditioned North Hall.

10-10-10 (13)

Preparing potatoes for french fries

10-10-10 (14)

10-10-10 (15)

Carol Fretz (right) and her daughter, Cheryl, frying the potatoes.

10-10-10 (16)

10-10-10 (17)

Carol dishing up the fries that you saw me eating in an earlier post. This was my Friday lunch.

10-10-10 (18)

Lois Roop preparing my supper – a hot dog with sauerkraut.

10-10-10 (19)

10-10-10 (20)

I could have chosen a chicken barbecue meal, but a full meal was too much food for me.

10-10-10 (21)

However, there must have been a lot of hungry people. This began at 3:00 p.m. and is the time when many people arrived – in time for an early supper so they can enjoy the evening auctions.

10-10-10 (22)

10-10-10 (23)

Breakfast was ready by 7:00 a.m. Saturday for those with a hearty morning appetite.

10-10-10 (24)

I turned down breakfast so I could enjoy some of the delicious Amish-made donuts.

10-10-10 (25)

10-10-10 (26)

10-10-10 (27)

The person making balloon decorations was sitting to the right of this picture and made creative additions to the Amish men’s straw hats.

10-10-10 (28)

Filling donuts

10-10-10 (29)

10-10-10 (31)

I would have loved to taste one of the filled donuts, but…

10-10-10 (30)

…instead chose a dish of these small, glazed donuts.

I got a cup of coffee, and kept the dish next to me during the auction, and enjoyed a small donut every now and then during the next six hours. That was pretty much my food for the day – two cups of coffee and one dish of donuts. How healthy is that?
