Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding! Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won’t regret it; never let her go—she’ll make your life glorious. She’ll garland your life with grace, she’ll festoon your days with beauty.”

Proverbs 4:7-9 (The Message)

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced.

James 3:17 (The Message)

Grandparent’s Day at LAMS

Friday, October 1

Visiting Grandson’s Ian and Jared

a (1)

Grandparents gathered at 8:45 a.m. for registration and refreshments at Lititz Area Mennonite School.

a (2)

Ken Fry, School Principal, welcomed the grandparents, and introduced Middle School Principal, Keith Garner, who told us about the program for the morning.

a (3)

We visited Jared’s kindergarten class first. He was anxious to show us his construction project.

a (4)

Showing a book to Grandma Buch

a (5)

Telling Grandpa about his school work. The hand he traced is on the table, and was a gift to us. It has a heart in the center, and says, “I’m blowing this big kiss your way with a wish for a Happy Grandparents’ Day!!” It is laminated with a small magnet on the back.

a (6)

Me and Jared posing for the camera. Don’t you love his toothless grin?

a (7)

Jared and his friend Darin

a (8)

Jared with his teacher

a (9)

Darin’s grandparents Nevin and Cordy threejoys

a (10)

Ian was looking for us, and delighted when he saw us coming toward his second grade room.

a (11)

Ian’s classroom – he’s standing in the center back.

a (12)

He was surprised to see Great-grandma Hershey.

a (13)

Ian and Grandma Buch

a (14)

Ian with his teacher

a (15)

He loved showing us things in the hall that belonged to second grade.

a (16)

But he was most anxious to show us his birdseed project.

a (17)

a (18)

Each student is documenting the growth of the seeds.

a (19)

a (20)

I love this project! They put water in a baggie, add some birdseed, close the baggie, then hang it in a window.

a (21)

The program in the gym began at 10:15 a.m. with kindergarten. Jared is fourth from the left.

a (22)

They sang “Way Up High” and “Young Little Branch.”

a (23)

Second Grade: We could see Ian scanning the audience as he looked for us, then he saw us just as I prepared to take this picture.

a (24)

They sang “Grandma’s and Grandpas” and “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High.”

~~~
After the program, we took the boys to Pizza Hut (their choice) for lunch.
~~~

a (25)

They were quite interested in this ground hog, who was in the yard near where we parked at Pizza Hut.

a (26)

Ian was telling us about his new glasses, so I took a closeup. We told him that he could go hunting with them because they are camouflage.

a (27)

Pizza Hut lunch

a (28)

I loved listening to them on the way home. They found an atlas and tried to figure out were we were. They continued to flip pages and usually didn’t have a Pennsylvania map.

I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness.

Rain!

Thursday, September 30

This was the day, almost three weeks ago, when we had rain like we hadn’t seen in a long time.

1 (2)

1 (3)

The driveway below us became a small creek.

1 (5)

1 (8)

Rain came down in sheets.

1 (12)

1 (13)

2

Our rain gauge only goes to five inches, so we emptied it when it reached the five-inch mark. By the end of the day we had six and a half inches of rain – some other nearby areas had seven to nine inches.

3 (1)

This was something new for our road – a street sweeper. It cleaned off mud that was created by the rain. There was a lot of dirt on the road because the township crew had been filling in the gutters after putting down new blacktop.

3 (2)

So ended our rainy day.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
