If God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.

Why do you have so little faith?

O Lord, I will always sing of your constant love;
I will proclaim your faithfulness forever.

I know that your love will last for all time,
that your faithfulness is as permanent as the sky.

Visiting Amish Friends

Part 2

Saturday Evening, April 13

2 (1)

We spent most of the evening playing or watching Kan Jam

2 (2)

Diana taking her turn.

2 (3)

It is played with frisbees, and in this photo Diana is trying to get the frisbee in the can for two points. If it touches the can but does not go inside, the team gets one point.

2 (4)

Mason and Lizzie were at the opposite end.

2 (5)

Roy putting a frisbee in the can.

2 (6)

This one went in the can without any help from Diana. Game over!

2 (7)

Starting a new game.

I think they played until one team got twenty-one points.

2 (8)

2 (9)

2 (10)

2 (12)

While they continued playing, some of us walked to Gideon and Lizzie’s house – across the meadow. Or you can walk out the lane and up the road.

 2 (15)

Jess and Melanie liked the horse – and the horse was delighted to have company.

2 (16)

2 (17)

Looking back at the main farm.

2 (18)

Walking back to Jake and Rachel’s.

2 (19)

2 (20)

These two are best friends. Rachel said the horse even allows the pony to walk under it. She said that a horse will not usually allow something to walk under it.

2 (13)

Lizzie’s clothesline with one tea towel and a clothespin holder.

2 (14)

The same clothesline taken at just a bit different angle made a completely different picture.

2 (21)

We had a fabulous evening – and just before getting into our car to drive home I noticed this beautiful moon.

Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear.

Then you won’t try to satisfy your selfish desires.

Visiting Amish Friends

Part 1 of 2

Saturday Evening, April 13

1 (1)

It was a beautiful, spring evening for a forty-five-minute drive.

1 (2)

1 (3)

As we neared Georgetown we saw some incredibly beautiful farmland.

1 (4)

1 (5)

1 (6)

Also, as we neared the farm, we saw many Amish buggies.

1 (7)

1 (8)

1 (17)

Entering their driveway.

1 (18)

They have a beautifully manicured farm.

1 (9)

After a delicious chicken barbecue supper, Lizzie (daughter-in-law of Jake and Rachel) showed us her puff quilt. Our daughter Deb is on the right.

After Deb read this, she emailed me asking if I realized that Lizzie is making this quilt for her and Roy. I did not know that.

1 (10)

1 (11)

Rachel is working on a quilt in one end of the kitchen.

1 (12)

1 (13)

1 (14)

After the remains of supper were put away and dishes done, we went outside. Many of us sat next to the fire because it was a cool evening.

1 (15)

My view of the meadow and area around me as I sat near the fire.

I have another set of pictures for tomorrow night.

Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.

Springtime Has Finally Arrived

1

The bare branches in our towns are beginning to come alive again.

2

Our woods still looks a bit bare but if you walk around and look for signs of life – life is there.

2a

I’m not sure how this crocus got here – as most of the crocus are in our front yard. Maybe I planted it and forgot, or maybe a bird or animal carried a tiny bulb to the woods.

3

And there are delightful signs of spring when I look up.

3a (2)

I always like the reminder to “look up” on days when I need to be infilled with hope.

3a (1)

I love springtime.

4

These daffodil buds remind me of the beauty that is sure to come in a day or two.

4a (1)

Some of the yellow beauty is already here.

4a (2)

These are a wonderful memory of my dad.  He loved daffodils.

5 (1)

Hyacinths not only look beautiful – they have a delightful scent.

5 (3)

5 (4)

5 (2)

6

Springtime means it is time for me to buy and learn about a new perennial.

Last year I somehow acquired a SmartGuide magazine about perennials and bulbs, so decided to work my way through the magazine – buying one plant a year.

Last year I purchased the first perennial in the book (they are in alphabetical order) which was Achillea. The common name is Yarrow. I will have pictures in a few weeks when they bloom.

6a

The next plant in the book is Alchemilla or Lady’s Mantel.

They are a low plant that is good for edging or a border. These small plants are known for their ability to hold glistening drops of rain or dew. (Notice the droplet in the center of the picture.)

7

I gathered a few daffodils for our kitchen table to bring some of the beauty inside.
