My 70th Birthday Marathon ~ My Actual Birthdate

| Family, Food

Saturday, February 8 My first gift of the day was the delivery of this beautiful bouquet of flowers from Clair (my brother) and Kate. They were beautiful – and stayed that way until my “real” birthday celebration the following weekend. Thank you! Thank you! Our grandson Josiah stopped in to give me a birthday hug, and […]

My 70th Birthday Marathon ~ Supper With Josh

It began on February 7 and lasted until February 18. Now that I am into the last day of this marathon, I feel a bit like it has been a biblical jubilee and as of today I am in need of a biblical fast. 🙂 I will begin that tomorrow. 🙂 My birthday celebration began at Jere and Kristen’s […]

…of going to Elizabeth Nails with Diane. Friday afternoon, January 3 It is a delightful thing to do on a frigid day in Maine. The atmosphere takes us away from the snow and low temperatures of the outside. This year we took Lydia, Elizabeth, and Hannah along. I think they are hoping that this becomes […]

New Year’s Day in Maine

Diane made an interesting, delicious breakfast for the first day of the year. We had a large pizza crust in our freezer – leftover from a party – so I brought it along to Maine. Diane covered it with a white sauce, scrambled egg, ham, and cheese mixture. Because everyone was here, they decided to open the […]

Our Family Christmas ~ Gift Exchange

| Christmas, Family

Our gift exchange began with the grandchildren who had exchanged names. Jesse – the youngest – began by giving a gift to his big brother Josh. It was cologne, so Josh tested it on Jesse. He gave some of us an opportunity to smell it. Next in age – Jared gave his gift to Diana. Ian had Gloria’s […]

Our Family Christmas – The Meal

When our “girls” decided (a few years ago) that they would always make the Christmas meal and we would provide the place, I resisted a bit, but with our busy past few weeks, I was grateful that all I had to do was clean the house and prepare the garage and coffee and punch. Roy and […]

Our Family Christmas ~ Part 1

Ian came to me after church asking if he could come to our house early and help to do some decorating for our Christmas supper on Sunday evening. I wasn’t going to do a lot of decorating this year, but thought that it would be fun to give him a few boxes of things from the attic. […]

I was pleased when Chris chose El Serrano’s for her birthday, because we had never been there – and I love trying new restaurants. I won’t need many words to show that these animals are loved and well cared for once they get to Roy and Deb’s house. When the trucker heard that he lost two baby ducks, he was surprised that they were alive. They must have fallen off the truck at the same time to be discovered together. […]

Lunch at RD’s

There were multiple reasons why we and Jere and Kristen’s family met Roy and Deb at RD’s for lunch after church on Sunday. 1. It is a new restaurant in Roy and Deb’s area. 2. I had some things that needed to be returned to Deb (they live about an hour away from us). 3. Deb twisted her knee […]

Roy and Deb were our chauffeurs to The Loft in downtown Lancaster. (Jere and Kristen took us home.) After finding a parking spot, we walked toward the restaurant and were surprised by the clip clop of horses behind us and turned around to see two city policemen. Waiting to go upstairs to the second floor dining area. […]

Traveling to Maine

Yesterday. We had a delightful, restful drive to our family in Maine. It was still dark at 5:15 a.m. when we left the house. We were near Allentown, Pennsylvania, on I-78 when we began seeing signs of daylight. There was no sunrise to be seen on this cloudy, foggy morning. It was still cloudy and […]

We had reservations at Lily’s for supper on Friday – with Roy and Deb – for his birthday which was July 7 – but when they came to Joanne’s funeral (10:30 a.m.), we changed the reservations to lunch. It didn’t seem wise for them to go home (one hour) and come back (another hour) for supper, and lunch worked for both […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
