Howe, Indiana, to Marietta, Pennsylvania – Tuesday, December 10 For some reason this song kept running through my head as I watched the day break on Tuesday. Morning Has Broken – by Eleanor Farjeon Morning has broken, like the first morning  Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird  Praise for the singing, praise for the […]

Saturday Night Supper

With Cerwin’s family While we waited for everyone to come, I noticed a beautiful sunset. Isn’t it interesting that sunsets are never identical? I enjoyed standing in our yard and seeing the tattered leaves and shellbarks silhouetted in the sunset. By 5:45 everyone was here and it was time to enjoy the delicious food each family brought. My […]

Our Thanksgiving Celebration

The day began with a beautiful sunrise. I enjoyed watching several birds eating their Thanksgiving breakfast. Later in the morning we went to church for our annual testimony of praise service. This is when several microphones are set up throughout the sanctuary and the audience is responsible for the program. It was interesting to hear from […]

A Delightful Weekend

| Family

It’s rather rare that I have a quiet weekend. However, that was bestowed on me the past two days while Cerwin, our sons, two grandsons, our brother-in-law, and a neighbor went to West Virginia to hunt deer. I was so settled into my La-Z-Boy – watching a good Hallmark Christmas movie and engrossed in beating the computer […]

Roller Skating

Overlook Skating Rink is not far from Chuck-E-Cheeses, so we had an hour to fill with another activity until the rink opened. First we spent some time at one of the playgrounds. Of course Jared tried to climb outside the safety fence. 🙂   I was impressed that there was the story of Noah’s Ark […]

Chuck-E-Cheese’s

…with our four youngest grandchildren. Saturday morning, November 2. This was a belated birthday gift for Jesse. He was so excited about “snowmobiling” that he didn’t even let Chuck-E-Cheese distract him. When I say belated, I mean belated. Jesse’s birthday was in June. The children were enticed to our table when the pizza arrived – […]

It was fun to have a short visit with Elizabeth – our oldest grandchild – last weekend. We went to the train station to get her on Thursday night (October 31) – after her all-day bus and train ride from Maine. She came to Pennsylvania to attend a weekend retreat – a reunion and time of […]

I was pleased when Chris chose El Serrano’s for her birthday, because we had never been there – and I love trying new restaurants. Tuesday Evening, October 29 The above photo and next paragraph are from the internet – just to give you an idea of where we ate: It’s authentic Latino American cuisine, and […]

Tuesday, October 22 at Brickerville Restaurant My brother Clair (third from right – facing camera) emailed us to say that he was going to be in our area on the evening of October 22, and could we get together for supper. Saturday Evening, September 28 This reunion – on the last Saturday of September each year – is something we always look forward to, partly because of the good food and partly because of the great fun we have together. Jere’s Birthday Supper

Monday, September 23 – the evening before Jere’s forty-fourth birthday. We went to The Loft (Jere’s choice) in downtown Lancaster where our children took us for our anniversary dinner last week. This time our table was positioned along a wall where I had a good view of the attractive raftered ceiling where there is beautiful, healthy-looking greenery.    I […]

I won’t need many words to show that these animals are loved and well cared for once they get to Roy and Deb’s house. When the trucker heard that he lost two baby ducks, he was surprised that they were alive. They must have fallen off the truck at the same time to be discovered together. […]

Lunch at RD’s

There were multiple reasons why we and Jere and Kristen’s family met Roy and Deb at RD’s for lunch after church on Sunday. 1. It is a new restaurant in Roy and Deb’s area. 2. I had some things that needed to be returned to Deb (they live about an hour away from us). 3. Deb twisted her knee […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
