We Have Been Waiting for This Place to Open

I just noticed on our local Facebook page that the opening was yesterday – February 13.

We met Mervin and Betsy last fall during committee meetings for a benefit truck show and learned about their plans to build a place for their catering business and a place to pick up many of their food creations. The Kings were the caterers for the benefit show.

We drive by here often (the corner of North Penryn Road and Doe Run Road) on the eastern edge of Manheim. Between Lititz and Manheim. We have been watching it go up from the ground. They had to tear the original place down.

There were so many things to choose from, but since it is only five miles from us, we left some things behind for a later time of shopping. Above – clockwise from left to right: apple dumplings, macaroni salad, chicken bites, filled donut holes, pulled pork and glazed carrots.

Merv told Cerwin they plan to serve hot sandwiches (like pulled pork) and other hot things in the near future but need to settle for cold things at the moment. There is a small area with several tables to enjoy cold drinks and anything else you buy. You can buy some things by the piece, but most things are packaged and ready to go. You can also order large quantities of their items for family meals, etc. I will order from here for our family’s summer picnic.

I had some samples for lunch. I heated carrots and chicken bites to enjoy with macaroni salad and a filled donut hole. I like these donuts because they aren’t very large (2″in diameter) which means I don’t have to commit to a large donut.

It was busy when we were there. When Merv checked us out, I said, “We will be back.”
