High Family Winter Get-Together

Saturday Lunch, January 24

It was about 12:15 pm when everything was ready for our buffet lunch. The hot things were in the kitchen area in the upper center: pulled pork, mac and cheese, gourmet potatoes, and green bean casserole – then salads and relishes followed by salty snacks, delicious desserts, and drinks.

Eric, Megan and their children, also Rod and Justin

Jeff, Donald, Jeremy, Gabi’s mom (I think her name is Leana) and Gabi

We were pleased to have Aunt Gloria and Uncle Ivan join us this year. Velda said they always ask about our family, so she thought it would be nice to have them join us. Gloria is Cerwin’s youngest aunt in the extended High family.

Gloria, Ivan, Mel and Velda

Pat, Elvin, Natalie (Nate & Abby’s daughter – she became Jakey’s best friend when playing in the gym and wanted to sit with them for lunch) :), Jakey, Crystal, Bailey, and CJ.

Dorretta, Cerwin, and Me.

Anthony (front), Nathaniel, Abby, Renee, Lydia, Jazzy, and Deb.

This room (The Lobby) and gym at Manheim BIC Church’s Activity Center is a perfect location for Cerwin’s siblings and their families. Most of the adults visited by moving from table to table while the children (and some adults) played in the gym (right background).

Garth was sleeping in his car seat during lunch. Later, when I was talking to Abby while she was holding him, I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. As Abby and I continued to talk, he patted me on the shoulder. I decided he wanted another kiss. He smiled and cuddled into Abby’s shoulder after the second kiss. Abby said, “I think he got what he wanted.” She told me that he is learning to kiss, so I asked him for a kiss. I got an open-mouthed wet kiss. Loved that special love from a 1-year-old great grandson.

It is good to treasure our family.
