Following a short message which reminded us to not miss the best things in life by being busy with good things, Dave Wenger shared a great Christmas story with the children.

He asked a few questions about Christmas which got interesting responses.

The final part of the service was a great blessing to our congregation and visitors. Our ministers – active and retired – sang several songs. Many have great singing skills.

Left to right: Ron Copenhaver, Carl Groff (hidden behind Ron), Luther Patches, Glendon Zook, Sam Cassel, Dave Wenger (hidden behind Sam), Marv Shenk, Jim Myer, Matt Patches, Merv Groff, Jon Cassel, and Dustin Martin.

I took this photo as they were dispersing so you can see Carl Groff (second from left).
If you would like to listen to the service, you can go to White Oak Church’s website. White Oak Church then go to Sermon Streaming and scroll down to Christmas Morning then click on Watch/Listen. Somewhere in the process, you will be asked for the password. It is Penryn. Make sure to use the capital P.

We closed by singing We Wish You Good Tidings of Christmas and a happy new year.

Following the service, we were invited to the Fellowship Hall for Moravian sugar cake and coffee, hot tea or hot chocolate.

Our sister-in-law Brenda and my brother Steve oversaw the baking of the Moravian Sugar Cake with the help of many others. Steve told me he really didn’t do very much because of some other responsibilities.

About the time I was beginning to enjoy my coffee and sugar cake, it was announced that anyone could get a poinsettia from the sanctuary window.

I didn’t need a poinsettia, but I did want to get some pictures of them.

By the time I got back to the table, our son Jeff had left and since I was not there, he left me a napkin note. 🙂

Enjoying the snack.

It is always a great time of fellowship, especially for those who do have Christmas Day plans, or are not preparing a meal for their family.
From here we went to Jere and Kristen’s for a Christmas lunch. I will tell you about that in the next post.
