Sunday, December 14 – 12:30 Brunch

It’s time to eat. Cerwin praying before our brunch.

There was French toast, egg casseroles, creamed dry beef, potatoes, muffins, bacon, sausage, yogurt, fruit, cookies and cupcakes.

Nathan enjoyed cuddling with his niece Aleah while her parents (Zach and Gloria) got their food. His girls (Lauree, Emmy, and Lainey) were in Florida.

Pop Pop (Jeff) enjoyed his youngest granddaughter (Haven) while her parents went for their food.

Enjoying the meal.

I like this panoramic photo taken by our daughter Deb, while we watched and listened to a YouTube song by Conrad Fisher I Heard the Bells – Conrad Fisher #christmas #Iheardthebells. After that I had prepared a slide show which reviewed many of the events of our family’s year.
When the slides were finished, we played a gift game of “Now-You-Have-It-Now-You-Don’t.” Cerwin and I purchase the gifts (mostly snacks, sodas, and sparkling grape juice) and have fun watching everyone choose the gift of their choice when the large foam dice tells them to choose a gift. Sometimes a roll of the dice does not say choose a gift, but – pass 1 gift left, pass 1 gift right, pass 2 gifts left, or pass 2 gifts right.
When everyone has one turn, I get the second dice that has many more sides that say, choose gift. After the second round, there were still 3 people who had not chosen a gift. We allowed them to choose a gift of their choice from the items that were left.

When we finished the game, our family gave us a gift.

This was something they knew we needed (in our old age) – a battery-powered weed eater and leaf blower – as it is becoming more difficult for us to start our gas-powered ones.

After Cerwin charged the battery the next day and they started with just a touch, I said, “I am anxious for spring so I can begin weed eating without having to ask him to start it for me.” 🙂 Cerwin said he will be able to use his before then – to blow snow off the patio and driveway.
I am grateful that our kids have grown into wise, caring adults.

Zach and Nate left for a short time to pick up their Montana elk antlers.

These two cuties (great granddaughters) were nearby, so I captured close ups: Sierra just looking cute, and Renee trying to pull a rubber band from her hair.

I needed a updated photo of Josiah, Becca, and Andre for our refrigerator.
They left very early on Monday morning – headed to the Philadelphia Airport where they flew home to California.
Cerwin and I love having our family here for Christmas and thank Diane and Deb for organizing the day and everyone for bringing food. It was also fun to have Mark, Diane, Josiah, Becca, and Andre stay here and help with the setup.
My grandson’s are very intrigued by your large family. They want to know how many were there? How do you seat everyone? Do they take turns eating? so many questions.
We have a large garage – two car with a room behind it. It is L-shaped. We added the extra room in the early nineties when we had meetings here for Transport For Christ. It is very nice now that our family is large. We only had 41 this year. Some could not come because of a conflict with another family meal or distance. There is a family in Maine and another in Tennessee. If everyone was together there would be 59. By next May there will be 60. We have folding tables and just set up what we need. The meal is by buffet and is set out in the kitchen. If everyone came some people would have to sit in the living room or kid’s room. I can easily set up for 50 or 55 in the garage.
Such a fun tradition! I love my battery powered weedeater 🙂 Chris W.
I am looking forward to using mine.
