Breakfast

Cerwin and I started his birthday by going to the “old” truckers’ breakfast at Yoder’s Restaurant, New Holland. In this picture Cerwin is sharing whoopie pies with each of the drivers.

Most of these guys are retired and get together each Tuesday morning to enjoy breakfast and tell old stories about life on the road.

A few of the wives come along each week – some because they do the driving – and enjoy being together as well. This is the first time I attended. Mostly because in my retirement, I enjoy quiet mornings at home. I think that is because my life was almost always busy in the morning – until I retired.

One of the men asked me to take a picture with his cell phone, so I took advantage of the pose and took a shot with my camera. There were 15 men – a really good attendance.
Free Sub
As we approached Village Market (Hinkletown) I thought it would be fun if they had a sign out saying, a free sub if today is your birthday.
To my surprise the sign said, A free small sub if your name is Curwin or Faye. π
So, on the way home from Yoder’s we stopped for Cerwin’s free sub. The spelling of your name does not have to match their sign. Cerwin chose a roast beef sub.
Supper
We had a relaxing afternoon, then went to Kountry Kitchen for supper to celebrate Cerwin’s birthday. After supper we went to Hilltop Acres Farm Market to get a few items for Sunday lunch.
Volleyball
We timed our supper and shopping to arrive at Manheim Central High School to watch another of our grandson Jesse’s volleyball games.

Jesse made some really good plays that helped his team win both games against the opposing team.

It was a truly fun day.
What a terrific way to spend a birthday! Freebies all the way! Belated birthday greetings to Cerwin. π
Thank you.
