I took the privilege to get interior pictures of the chapel before the concert began.
The chapel was completed in 1988.

When the Billy Graham Association was looking for a piano. George Beverly Shea noticed an advertisement for this piano, called about it and went to the lady’s door.
Imagine her surprise to see George Beverly Shea at her door!
After playing it and liking what he heard, the woman asked if he would sing a song for her. And, just like that the piano was donated for the chapel.

I was blessed to stand behind this pulpit to get a photo. The pulpit is about 400 years old and came from the Church of England.

The photo I took while standing behind the pulpit.

The pews are also from England and were used in the Royal School for the Blind. They are over 200 years old.

Some of our group waiting for the hymn sing to begin.

Jeff Bennet is a respected pianist, arranger and recording artist with every major publisher in the country. Not only is he a writer of church music, he has performed on a recording for Disney and has arranged for artists like Marvin Hamlisch. Jeff has performed all over the world; from Carnegie Hall, Europe and the Middle East. He is currently the Worship Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Houston Texas. Throughout the year, he leads Master Classes in arranging and keyboard skills and performs concerts throughout the United States.

Oh, what a hymn sing we had!

We sang Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, How Great Thou Art, and I’d Rather Have Jesus

When We All Get to Heaven, I’ll Fly Away, When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, My Jesus I love Thee, It Is Well with My Soul, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, He Touched Me, Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine, To God Be the Glory, and of course the crusade invitation song, Just As I Am.

Jeff also gave us a few piano solos.

One hour was over way too soon.
I have heard so much about this chapel! How totally fascinating to hear the background stories. I don’t feel I need to make the trip, having experienced so very much from your posts. Thank you for letting me tag along! I’m being blessed by the photos.
So glad you are enjoying our trip.
