March 31 to April 3
~~~
Our first meal at The Cove’s Training Center dining room was Monday evening, March 31 – the evening we arrived. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our last meal was breakfast on Thursday, April 3 before leaving for Samaritan’s Purse.
Meals were buffet, self-serve style with an area for drinks and desserts. The staff served coffee, answered questions, and many times brought us drinks like iced tea and sodas. We found each meal to be delicious and well prepared.
I understand that the dining room can serve 250 people. One staff person told me when there are more than that, the dining room is quickly flipped. She remembered when she helped flip the dining room when there were more that 400 people at the Training Center.
Notice the orange shirts in the background. Those are Samaritan’s Purse workers who were serving in the Asheville area to help rebuild from the disastrous flooding. We saw them at breakfast and dinner. They were given containers of food for lunch before they left to work for the day.
One Samaritan’s purse team leader said that he and his wife expect to live in this area for five years or until all repairs are finished.
