Our First Session at The Cove

Our first session was a chalk art program by Elva (who organized this tour with Bob Neff Tours and Prelude Tours) while her daughter Bethany played piano and sang a variety of gospel songs.

Elva (left) was joined by Ruth Ann, another chalk artist. They only met recently. I think it was the first time either one worked with another artist on the same piece of paper.

The dream of planning a tour to The Cove came to Elva about a year and a half ago. She has been doing chalk art for 36 years.

Elva lives fairly close to us and as far as I know it is the first time I heard about her. She owns a barn studio and has busloads of people come to see her work.

Ruth Ann is from the Red Lion, PA, area. She used to do chalk art while her husband preached until he died from a sudden heart attack a few years ago.

She is just getting back into chalk art as she tries to find her way in doing it without her husband.

Elva adding a deer to the scenery.

When she changed the lighting, we saw something that was hidden before – a Bible.

I am fascinated by the skill of chalk artists – and we got two in one morning.
