Working at Blessings of Hope
~~~ Wednesday, March 12 ~~~ This week we started with putting edible sunflower seeds into small bags, then when that was done we did the same thing with pecans (above photo of Anthony and me). Our third job was removing the outer leaves of cabbage. When the outer leaves had been removed, the heads were […]
New Mailbox
~~~ Tuesday, March 11 ~~~ Cerwin decided that our old, rather beat up mailbox needed replaced. The biggest problem was that the lid often came open, especially on a windy day. He made sure everything lined up before putting the new box on the post. Finished!

Birthday Party for Donovan and Abby
~~~ Thursday, March 6 ~~~ Because the garage was set up as a dining room for Guess Who’s Coming to Diner a few days earlier, we invited the Sensenig’s and Zuck’s to come for their 2025 birthday meal from Two Cousin’s Restaurant. Thursday was the evening that suited both families. The families of two of […]
Birthday Breakfast with Jere
~~~ Wednesday, March 5 ~~~ For the past few years, our youngest son, Jere, has been taking me out for breakfast for my birthday and this year was no different. This time we went to Udder Choice Restaurant near Ephrata. My bacon, egg and cheese English muffin – with a few bites out of it. […]
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Something to Ponder

Neighbors Sharing & Caring
A women’s fellowship ministry of Chiques Church – Tuesday, March 4, 9:00 am. I have know about this ladies ministry for several years, but have never attended. This time I went at the invitation of Cerwin’s sister, Velda, who called the night before because our cousin Audrey was the speaker this week. The ladies take […]
Amish Church
~~~ Sunday, March 2 ~~~ It was a beautiful late winter day for the Amish to have worship at the Amish neighbor’s place closest to our house and the only one with the same street address as us. Their worship service was over by the time we went home from our Sunday worship, and many […]
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
~~~ Sunday, March 2 ~~~ What fun to prepare for 12 guests and not know who was coming. All we knew was that there was one couple, a single woman, and two families with 5 children under 5. I did know that the youngest was just a few months old, so prepared a baby seat […]
Sunrise Beautiful
~~~ Wednesday, February 26 ~~~ This sunrise illuminated the entire valley. More photos as I panned toward the south. I love beginning a day with a pretty sunrise.
Sportsman’s Dinner
~~~ Saturday Evening, March 1 ~~~ We enjoy this annual event at Ephrata Business Center, Ephrata, Pa – and rarely miss it. After most of the 500 people found seats and had opportunity to visit vendors, or compete in a variety of games, we were offered a variety of venison hors d’oeuvres, chips, pretzels and […]
Ham and Bean Soup
Monday, February 24 was a cold winter day – a good time to make a batch of ham and bean soup. After making it in a Dutch oven, I put it into a crock pot to stew all afternoon. It was delicious. This is a favorite soup of ours. The Recipe:
