Due to her death at age 52, it has been 51 years since we last saw or talked with her.
1922 – a baby picture of her – Florence Hawthorne
1943 – Florence Hawthorne Hershey – the day she married my dad.
About 1950 – Mother and me.
1963 – at our wedding reception.
1973 – At my sister’s wedding
One of the last pictures we have of her.
She died of complications from cancer about 7 1/2 months later.
A few things I learned following her death, was to live my life well, trust God with all my heart, and treasure each day.
She and Daddy taught us to live that way.
Beautiful pictures, wonderful memories and precious thoughts.
Thank you.
Your mother was so special! And your dad! I wanted to thank her for her help when we were young youth advisors serving with them. Specifically remember a revival youth night and all those youth in attendance. I was sure we did not have enough food. She reassured me. I never got the chance to thank her. ☹️
Thank you, Sue. I remember that you said she had a special place in your heart, but I am not sure I ever heard about this youth activity.
My mother s birthday was January 28 she had Cancer also.
died at 57 Aug 25 1980
They were both so young. Some of our children are now older than my mother was when she died.
I’m sorry I missed this post — your mother was a special person, and taught you well!
