A New Birdbath

Because our old birdbath cracked from below freezing temperatures, our family gave us money for Christmas to get a new one. We never had one crack before.

On the way home from an appointment we stopped at Backyard Birding, Co. in East Petersburg. I saw online that they have a nice variety of birdbaths. We chose to buy the one the owner recommended. He has this one and likes it because the top can easily be lifted off to pour out old water.

Because it is plastic, he likes to put something heavy in the center. We had this perfect frog who has made his home in the flower bed for the last 10 years. I think he likes being in the water.

Cerwin made the birdbath really full. πŸ™‚ I told him I thought it would be better if it was only half full. Plus it looked like the frog is drowning.

I wanted it placed close to our large kitchen window so I can easily see birds that stop by.

It didn’t take long for a finch to take a drink, and after Cerwin emptied some of the water.

The next day it started snowing on the thin layer of ice that had already formed. I suggested that we get a birdbath heater, but Cerwin doesn’t think that is necessary. πŸ™‚

The frog looks cold.

Love this new birdbath and the location where we placed it.

Special thanks to our family for this Christmas gift.
