Jeff’s Interesting Whitetail Hunt

Our oldest son Jeff had been at the neighbor’s farm (where he usually hunts) for the opening day of deer hunting. It is a cold and windy day here in PA – as low at 22 degrees. After seeing only one doe by late morning, he went home to relax in the warm for a few hours.

He had just gotten home and was in the laundry removing his hunting gear, when he heard Maddie barking. He looked outside to see two bucks in his hayfield near the tree line (just to the back left of this picture) – a 6-point and an 8-point.

He grabbed his gun and ran outside – stocking footed – and dropped the 8-point at 100 yards. He since learned that the neighbors called this buck “Tall Tine Eight”. Jeff thinks it weighed between 200 and 215 pounds.

He is one happy hunter. When he called his dad, Cerwin said, “Well is it an 8-point?” I could hear Jeff saying, “Dad, you aren’t going to believe this” and proceeded to tell him the above story.

I didn’t get a posed picture of Maddie., but that is her in the background. Good job, Maddie. Without you, Jeff would not have seen this buck.
