Abby had places to be and asked if their children could spend a few hours with us. I was glad we had an open day. It had been about a month and a half since we had them.

The children wanted pancakes for lunch, and since I didn’t have a pancake mix on hand, I decided to try something I found in a cookbook – baked pancakes. As soon as I got the ingredients ready, Renee pulled a kitchen chair up to the counter. πŸ™‚ She loved mixing the eggs, and then the other things as I added them.

We all laughed at the result. I baked it in an 8×8 pan. It looked more like a souffle than a pancake, but the children seemed to like it. I wish I had thought to take a picture.

Renee has changed so much since we had them on September 4. She is starting to say words – especially “no”. Also, when I asked her to put something back in the refrigerator, she knew what I meant. We had to keep an eye on her, because she is always into something.

When Abby came back, we were laughing about the things Renee did. Abby told me that she has to keep an eye on her too. She loves to eat butter that is cold and in the refrigerator. As soon as Abby said that, Renee went to the refrigerator and kind of hid behind the door. I thought she went for her bottle of milk. All of a sudden, I said, “I bet she is eating butter.” She was! Now we have cute little teeth marks on a butter stick. πŸ™‚

After the three oldest watched several Paw Patrol movies, and after lunch, I said, “It is time to go for a walk.” These four love to walk. Jazzy asked if she could walk through the cornfield. I said she could if she stayed in the first row. (I didn’t want to lose her.)

Renee and Natalie were fascinated by the caterpillar that was slowly crossing the road. Yes, it was in the middle of the road. On the double line. It is good that we don’t have much traffic here.

Jazzy and Natalie dancing as we walked.

It is fun to have Anthony along on a walk. He loves to tell me about things that are happening in his life. I find his conversation so interesting.

Another caterpillar! Also, in the middle of the road. The girls got a little bit closer this time but weren’t interested in touching it.

We saw a total of three caterpillars.
