West Quoddy Head, Lubec, Maine, is the easternmost point in the contiguous USA.
I googled “Who first saw the sunrise on September 16, 2024.” This was my answer.
The first place in the USA to see the sunrise would be in the easternmost parts of Maine, particularly around the town of Lubec. Lubec is often one of the first places in the continental United States to experience sunrise due to its eastern location. But it only happens here in the March and September Equinox.
There are times of the year when the first sunrise is seen from Cadillac Mountain, Maine, or Mars Hill, Maine.
In this picture, you can see Cerwin bringing our lawn chairs. The atmosphere was fabulous as we drank coffee and waited for the first sight of the sun – along with about a dozen other people.
There it is! Right on time. 6:08 am.
It was fun to go on this adventure with Mark and Diane.
Our next stop was breakfast on Campobello Island. I will tell you about the island in my next post.

We didn’t know about it either until Mark and Diane had that as one of their adventures for the day.
