Swimming at Refreshing Mountain

This was a birthday gift to our thirteen Pennsylvania great grandchildren for the year 2024.

There are four others who will receive something special when they visit from Maine, Tennessee and California.

It takes a bit of scheduling to find a day that suits us, five granddaughters, a daughter, and thirteen great grandchildren (21 people) and find a morning time slot at Refreshing Mountain – 11:00 am to 1:50 pm – which the granddaughters prefer.

I will start by introducing the twenty-one family members who were there.

Cerwin and Deb were on babysitting duty. There are three babies this year so we felt that Deb’s help would be appreciated. It gives the moms time with their older children.

I mostly helped babies or toddlers who preferred being on the edge of the pool.

Abby and her four children – Anthony, Jasmine, Natalie and Renee.

Lauree and her two girls – Lainey and Emmy

Jenna and her three children – Jade, Harper and Drake

Diana and her three children – Bennett, Waylon and Sierra

Gloria and her daughter Aleah.

Our three youngest great grandchildren – Lainey with her mom Lauree, Aleah with Cerwin, and Sierra with Deb.

It was a good morning for our family to be there. It wasn’t very full.

Our family was more than half of those who were swimming.

The pool rings and noodles were popular with the young children.

Bennett was threatening to splash me.

Jenna tried the floating ring for Harper. Harper loved the water in any form.

Cerwin and I packed a picnic lunch for everyone: ham salad and chicken salad sandwiches (cut in 4), grapes, cheese and pretzels, drinks in small containers, a variety of salty items in small packs and cookies and sweet treats, also in small packs.

Deb with Jazzy, Sierra, and Natalie. To Deb’s delight, Sierra slept most of the time. (By-the-way, a few of these pictures were taken by Deb.)

Aleah was especially happy after Gloria fed her lunch.

Waylon wasn’t too sure about the water at first but loved when his mom walked him across the pool.

Emmy loved when her mom twirled her in the water while Lainey went with the flow – just blinking her eyes if she got splashed.

As 1:50 pm approached, everyone got their last few minutes in the pool before the next shift of swimmers arrived. One of the many reasons we like Refreshing Mountain is that there are scheduled swimming times.

I took this picture of the pool area as we drove away. We were on the green chairs on the right.

We will be back and gladly receive that blessing.
