Removing Some Very Tall and Old Locust Trees

But, first, Cerwin asked our son Jere if he could come the evening before and remove some low branches of other trees that are in the way when he mows yard. He did this the day before, because All Season Tree and Bucket Services, Lititz, can grind them up in their large machinery.

Wednesday, June 5

Cerwin took all these pictures – some with my camera and others with his cell phone. Anthony and I were volunteering at Blessings of Hope.

Lots of equipment arrived just before 8:00 am.

Amos, from All Season Tree Service, had come and looked at our trees several days earlier and said the day he does the work will depend on when the large crane he rents is available. He called us the day before saying they would be there in the morning.

We had 6 very old locust trees that showed signs of rot and dying, and some were leaning toward the house. One of those trees on our house would cause severe damage. There was also a very old dogwood tree that was dying and though it would probably not have caused any damage to the house if it fell, we decided to take it down as well.

There was a limited amount of space behind the house, shed and the back of our woodlot, but they did a great job of placing their equipment in the available space.

Because these trees were towering over our house, they were taken down by removing the top first.

Our financial agreement with Amos was that he would get all the usable locust lumber.

Cerwin was impressed! They removed 7 trees in two hours – and I was surprised to arrive home about 11:30 am to see that they were already finished.

We certainly recommend All Season Tree and Bucket Services, Lititz, PA.
