We have been watching this process for many months, as these skilled workmen installed new electric poles in our neighborhood.
We knew they were soon going to be working in front of our house, when they laid a “road” of strong skids through the fields that connected with this field – from north to south. Then we began seeing trucks coming and going. It is a very long process.
Then there was the day when several trucks and workmen gathered around the pole closest to us.
There were trucks delivering poles and linemen in bucket trucks.
It was a long, slow process. About the time I thought they were putting a new pole in place it was dropped to the ground again.
Finally, it looked like the actual pole placement was happening.
I went outside, close to our road, to capture this picture so there weren’t other lines in front of it. Look at the difference in size between the tall new one and the shorter one that has been there for years.
I could tell the placement was good, because there were cheers and laughter. I thought that was interesting because they have been doing this for many months – just in our area. I gathered that placement is quite an accomplishment.
Then came the details of removing and hooking up new lines. That happens gradually between the poles that cross the fields in our area. It appears that is still not complete.
I am fascinated by the many skilled workmen in our country.
Will these new poles have wires connecting them, or will the lines be underground?
No, by appearances, they will be above ground.
That’s interesting as they are doing the same in our area — our road is a small dead end road off the main road so I’m not sure they will be on our road. They have a big job as they have to go in wooded areas, up banks and down banks to get to all the poles. It’s a big job and they’ve been at it for quite a while. Interesting!
That is interesting that they are also doing this in your area. The electric companies must be on a major update schedule.
