It was interesting to drive through Lititz on Saturday (Feb 17) and see a few ice sculptures along the street. They are part of the Fire & Ice Festival that is going on in Lititz from February 16 through 25.
It was difficult to get pictures while in a moving car because of the many people on the sidewalks.
There were 75 ice sculptures at various places of business throughout the town.
I was able to get a picture of the lion at the entrance to Lititz Springs Park.
According to the Internet, it represented strength, courage, and the spirit of these winter festivities.
We were traveling through Lititz to get to the Kissel Hill area where I was able to get three free soft pretzels at Philly Pretzel Factory because my name begins with the letter D. They do that on various days – featuring other letters of the alphabet.
We had already taken some delicious warm pieces from one soft pretzel when I thought, “I need to take a picture for our friend Mary” who notified me (via Facebook) that I could get free pretzels, or I would not have known about the promotion. The partially eaten pretzel is hidden behind the other two.
We didn’t want to eat too much because we were on our way to a Sportsman’s Dinner. More about that in a later post.
I love seeing ice sculptures — they are rare in this part of the world!
I expect it is a bit too warm there. 🙂
I think our lowest temperature this winter was about 40 degreres — ice sculptures wouldn’t survive our climate!
