Saturday Morning, January 13
I don’t usually go along to this breakfast, but the guys were recruiting the wives to come along so they could reserve a small room where it is much easier to visit. They need at least ten people to reserve this room.
Glenn, Ronnie, Marv (Tex), George, Cerwin, Clyde, Gene and Marv.
I don’t remember a time when Cerwin didn’t go white tail deer hunting with these guys. He was sixteen when he was invited to hunt with the Mountain Raiders. That means he began hunting with them in 1957. At that time they stayed with a family in Coudersport – sleeping upstairs and eating downstairs with the family. Several years later a group of these guys purchased a cabin not too far from the house where they stayed and invited those not involved in the purchase to keep hunting with them. Cerwin was not part of the purchase but continued to hunt with them – probably about 50 years. The usual number of hunters at the cabin was 18-20. The cabin has been sold and most of the guys no longer hunt due to age limitations and several have passed away.
The women sat at the next table so we could have our own conversation. 🙂 Phoebe, Eloise and Betty. It was fun to visit, and it sounded like the guys were having fun too.
While sitting there I noticed the sign on the hill that said, Welcome to the Farmstead.
It must be fun to have so many groups of friends from your youth to join for reminiscing meals!
It is a fabulous honor to have these friends.
