After checking out the eagle nest, we headed home – the long way. As we made a left turn, I said, “Stop. I think I saw a pheasant.” What a delight to see him up close. The ring-neck male is so pretty.
He watched me for a while, trying to be invisible, but I think he soon realized that he had my attention and began walking away.
For the locals, this was near the Wolf Sanctuary and on the edge of Speedwell Forge County Park.

Something to Ponder

He’s a BEAUTIFUL bird!
Agree. They are a rare sight in our area of Pennsylvania.
We see them occasionally, but not often!
Although there were lots of them when I was growing up, it’s been YEARS since I’ve seen a pheasant in the wild.
I remember my grandpa Hershey, my dad and Cerwin used to go pheasant hunting.
