We had a “free” day and decided to go to Harvest Lane Farm to spend a gift certificate from our 60th wedding anniversary.
I stopped in here many years ago when it was just a summer roadside stand. That has certainly changed. To the locals, this is located on E Oregon Road near Landis Homes.
We had lots of fun spending the gift certificate. I was especially impressed with the frozen chicken pie and will go back again, just for that. We also bought a beef pie which we haven’t yet tried. Also, their apple crisp is amazingly delicious.
Roadside produce stands are especially wonderful — we still have a very few of them, often with long-standing “farms,” which are more like demonstration farms, and they mostly sell strawberries. The good ones have expanded to sell other produce in small amounts — corn, broccoli, pumpkins, tomatoes, etc. What a fun place to spend your gift certificate!
We have so many that include homemade baked products and beautiful vegetables. Some are open year round. The smaller one are only open from spring through fall.
