I heard the equipment outside and noticed they were beginning corn harvest in the field to the southwest of our house. It was shortly after 11 am.
Hauling the silage to the farm trench. Notice the tractor on top of the trench – at the farm. They drive the tractor back and forth on the trench to press out gases, etc.
We were away most of the day and some of it was harvested at night, so the next day when I looked at the field, it looked like this.
The field below our house has not yet been harvested.
Two days later the field was already being fertilized for the next crop.
Goodness — that machinery really makes quick work of the harvest and preparation for the next crop!
It is amazing how quickly the large equipment can do a harvest.
