Sunday Evening, September 10
~~~
This church building is owned by White Oak Church and is considered an historical site in our area. It was built in 1859.
As a rule, we have only two evening meetings here during a year – usually hymn sings. Those are held at the beginning and end of summer.
We use the old Brethren hymn books that have been there for many years.
Dustin opened the serving by leading congregational singing.
Glendon opened with a short devotional and later told the story behind the song, It Is Well with My Soul.
Prayer
Singing in this building is fabulous because of the acoustics.
Closing prayer
It was a warm rainy night.
Another great hymn sing memory.
I’m sure that was a wonderful time of singing! But those benches! No comfort there!
The outside of the building reminds me of the old Upton building.
What memories!
I agree with the benches thing. I almost took a cushion that we use for bleachers at ball games. 🙂 Singing is so good in that building.
Precious memories! Love the old time hymn sings. And the shaped notes!! That’s how we were taught in the elementary school I attended. I would want more than twice a year, though!
The singing is fabulous there.
