We saw this one the afternoon we were at Jakey and Crystal’s for the girl’s birthday party.
From the Internet: Their upright posture, while remaining stationary with forearms folded, has led to the common name praying mantis.
They have triangular heads with bulging eyes supported on flexible necks.
They are part of the Mantodea family. All Mantodea have forelegs that are greatly enlarged and adapted for catching and gripping prey.
Their elongated bodies may or may not have wings,
And they can catch and eat hummingbirds. 🙁 But they are fascinating creatures.
I forgot about that. They are truly fascinating.
