After arriving at our hotel in Auburn, Maine, and settling in our rooms, we (Jeff, Chris, Diana, Deb, Cerwin and I) chose a nearby restaurant for a light supper before going to the viewing.

There was a nearby bar area with numbered cups. If you have a numbered cup, you always get to use the same one.

The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the hotel lobby/restaurant.

We were blessed to stay at a Hilton because Deb’s husband (our son-in-law) had enough points to give us free rooms. It helped Roy feel involved because he needed to stay home to care for his mother and their animals.

Diana teaching her dad something on his cell phone.

Mark’s (our Maine son-in-law) mother and niece were staying at the same hotel – along with the nieces’ husband and daughter. They also had points for free rooms. 🙂 Yay for hotel points.

We had time for an Androscoggin River walk – on the hotel property before going to the funeral.

The falls was quite impressive.

Some of the flowers were in full bloom and beautiful in the morning lighting.

Our oldest granddaughter Elizabeth (sister to Hannah) wanted a picture with her Grandma Myers. I took these pictures at the funeral home.

Elizabeth, Joanne and Nsimba.

Got a great photo of Elizabeth and Nsimba. They have two children – and I got photos of them, but they don’t like their photos to be on social media.

After the funeral meal, we went back to our hotel and relaxed before a group supper.

We ladies (Deb, Chris, Diana and I) took a long walk to Bates Mill while the men drove.

Bates Mill is a large complex that has many businesses inside an old textile factory.

It was founded in 1850 and was Maine’s major employer through the 1860’s and provided the initial capital for nearby Bates College. Currently the mill buildings are home to several businesses, apartments, and a small museum. It is located on the Lewiston side of the Androscoggin River.

Jere, Kristen and Deb coordinated this meal to include Mark and Diane’s family and friends, so we could spend more time together. It also suited three of their children (Heze, Abby, Lydia) and their families.

It was dark when we left so we appreciated the beautiful gas lights that were perfectly spaced along the exit/entrance walkway.

Just after leaving this gate, Jeff (walking ahead of me) discovered a wallet on the ground. It included lots of credit cards and personal information. We could not find a phone number, so took it back to the hostess in the restaurant. I certainly hope the wallet and her owner are together again. They should be because there was a driver’s license.

We were up early on Saturday morning to begin our almost ten-hour drive home. We left at 6 am.

The daylilies were partially closed because of the cloudy, rainy weather. The rain was over by the time we left.

We are thankful that each of us had an uneventful trip home.

God is good – all the time.
