The table was set in our garage for a picnic-style lunch with ten friends from church.
At lunchtime we opened the garage door to make it feel like we were outside – but free from the breeze and bright sunshine.
I used a simple decoration of a small vase of Yarrow.
We served cheeseburger soup, chicken barbecue sandwiches, relishes, red beet eggs, chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberry dessert and whipped cream.
It was a delightful afternoon with Nevin, David, Mary, Barb, Carl, Shirley, Bob, Erma, Sue, and Lois Ann. The ladies went outside and enjoyed visiting under the shade of one of our trees while the men chose to stay in the garage.
After everyone left, I cleaned up a bit and relaxed to the clip clop sound of a horse going by the house.
My heart was satisfied.
That sounds like a lovely day! It’s still not warm enough here to spend much time outside!
Oh, I thought maybe your weather would be warmer than ours.
No, near the coast we’re still dealing with June Gloom — cloudy mornings, sometimes sunny afternoons. The clouds seem to be lasting longer than usual, sometimes allowing the sun to peek through around 5 pm, just in time for new clouds to form!
PS — how are you doing with the wildfire smoke from Canada? The pictures we see here look awful!
The smoke has moved south and east, so we are okay now. We had a few days of smoke. Could even smell it one day.
