New Patio Furniture

Memorial Day, Monday, May 29

~~~
If you follow my blog, you know I rarely post actual day happenings but thought this one would be fun to post today. 🙂
I am usually a week or two behind in postings – and that is on purpose – so I can post as it suits. I like blogging to be fun.
You may remember that during “White Oak Youth Service Day”, a couple of weeks ago, we asked the volunteers to carry our old patio furniture to the memory garden because it was fading and needed a less prominent place in our yard.
It was maybe a week earlier, when shopping at a nearby store that carried outdoor poly furniture, I told our daughter Diane that I thought we should replace our current faded furniture, but Cerwin thought we spent enough money this year when replacing the roof. 🙂
Apparently a “light” went on in her head and she contacted her siblings, saying that she had an idea for our 60th Wedding Anniversary. Apparently, they liked the idea and contacted each of our grandchildren.
Within days one of our children told us to not buy patio furniture because they were going to provide it for us since this was our 60th Wedding Anniversary year (September).
They talked about just buying the furniture and presenting it to us – or giving us money so we could get exactly what we want. They opted to give us money – which we received last week when Jere came over one evening and surprised us with a card and envelope filled with cash. It was from our four children and sixteen grandchildren.
We spent the next few days looking (online) for the best choices and places to shop for what we wanted. King’s near Quarryville (about an hour away) was our first choice. We thought if they were open today (Memorial Day), we would go see what they had.
I called at 9 am (usual opening time) and learned that they were open.
We were pleased with what we saw when pulling into a parking spot and found exactly what we wanted. They are located in BB’s Grocery Store parking lot near Quarryville. They also have a large, fabulous gift store where you could easily shop for a long time.
We had a second-choice location in mind but knew within five minutes that we didn’t have to go anywhere else. When we mentioned that to Sam (the Amish owner of the store) he smiled and said, “I know you will like ours better. I used to work for the other location.” In true Amish fashion, he replied, “They have good furniture too (made by another supplier) but I am glad you chose us.”
Sam and Cerwin easily got all three pieces into our RAV4. We thought we might have to loan one of our son’s pickup trucks or make two trips.
Within an hour the new furniture was on our patio.
I love how the glider chairs and table match our house.
They are so comfortable and move smoothly. Because we have a brick patio, we opted to get gliders instead of rocking chairs.
We are looking forward to having coffee out there tomorrow morning. Afternoons in the summer are often too sunny and hot to be out there during the middle of the day. Mornings and evenings are best – or maybe cloudy days.
Thank you to our children and grandchildren. We love you to the moon and back.
