April 16 – 3:00 pm
This was a few weeks ago so the trees look a bit greener now.
I had so many events to post that I kept pushing these pictures to the background.

Leaving our house for a one-mile walk.
After turning right at the homestead, I had to walk to a marker just beyond the cow barn for the half-mile marker before turning around.
There were a few cows who were curious about me walking by their feeding trough.
These three each had heart-shaped markings on their head.
A view across the valley facing the southeast. You will notice the pond that was restructured last summer and fall.
I decided to take the field lane where I had a good view of our house.
Some weeds and things leftover from last fall.
Getting closer to the main road.
I always like this view of the sandstone part of the homestead house which was built in 1819.
It reminds me of what we would have seen back then – minus the phone and electric wires.
There are lots of dandelion flowers and seedpods this time of year.
The remains of last year’s corn field.
Across the road the field was filled with a cover grass which grew over winter and is now almost ready to harvest.
Pretty, blooming weeds.
Just before our driveway is the very old border stone, marking the separation of farm properties.
The red dogwood was still blooming on that nice Sunday afternoon – three-and-a-half weeks ago.
That was refreshing and invigorating!
Very scenic and relaxing walk. There is an app you can get on your phone called “Picture This”. You can use it for basics to identify plants you see along the way. I never accept their “invitation” to subscribe, but even using the basic program it is
great for identifying “weeds,” trees, and flowers along the way.
I will have to check on that.
That yellow weed looks a lot like our invasive “black mustard.” What a lovely set of views!
It may be a mustard weed. I never identified it.
